Link UC graduate/professional students and/or alumni of graduate/professional programs with UEH student or finissent to complete the thesis. The problem of completing the thesis is endemic to all of UEH contributing to a low matriculation rate and limits the finissents (non-diploma graduates) from socioeconomic advancement. UC and UEH students/alumni will work on the following but not limited to: (1) Project design and formation of protocol; (2) Assistance in analyzing data; (3) Sharing of journal articles not available to UEH; (4) Coordinating with UC labs to arrange for sample analysis. Neither institutions are required to use institutional funds to support this and it is the responsibility of the Working Pair to setup an arrangement; (5) Editing the final thesis; (6) Editing and advising on the thesis defense presentation.

Goals: Emergency and essential surgical care (EESC) delivers life-saving, disability-averting emergency, obstetrical and surgical care that should be available at the first-referral facilities. This project uses a WHO-developed Situation Analysis toolkit to establish quantitatively the evidence base for capacity of EESC the way it is currently provided, mapping out capacity of 51 health facilities nationally. The intended impact of the research: 1) Provide information that will allow providers to better coordinate care, 2) MSPP to begin the process of developing a policy on EESC, 3) augment WHO's global database for its advocacy efforts, and 4) put in a place an efficient system to routinely measure improvements in EESC capacity-building.
