The UC Haiti Initiative at UC Merced is comprised of students, faculty, researchers and affiliates who are interested in applying their academic resources to research and apply real solutions to the poverty caused by the earthquake that devastated Haiti in January 2010. The UC Merced Chapter was founded in March of 2011.

Currently, the UC Haiti Initiative chapter at UC Merced is an active student organization whose vision is to bring together administration, faculty, and students in hope of promoting sustained development. The UC Merced chapter is working to create awareness with in the Central Valley of the issues that face Haiti and, in turn, answer to social responsibilities by developing projects that will promote a shared vision of the future growth and development possible for the Haitian community.
